This New year has started well, I think. I was hoping to do more original numbers this year; and that’s when Rahul came up to me asking me if I would like to be a part of an original composition – a song about ‘The spirit of New Year’. I immediately agreed; not only cos it was an original song, but also because the team of artists included really talented guys like Rahul, Unni and Krishna Raaj. I am glad I got this chance to work with them.

I would like to specially mention the youngest member of the team – Nandana(Our Ajeesh’s daughter), who lent her cute voice in the beginning of the song. Don’t you love the way she says ‘resolution’ :D She makes it sound adorable. :)

So I hope you like this song… and hope with this song, your 2011 shines bright with Peace and lots of happiness.

It’s been a while since I posted a song here. I have not been very active on Muziboo for the last few weeks. I was down with a terrible cold, cough and everything that goes with it; ‘thanks’ to the Wisconsin winter.

Anyway, I thought I must post a song since its the first day of the New Year. This song is a very famous and melodious piece composed by the Maestro Ilayaraja. This tune was recently used by Ilayaraja in the movie "Paa".

This song was suggested by a few friends of mine, so I decided to cover it. I am covering a song sung by S. Janaki after a really long time. Hope you all like this rendition. Do let me know your comments.

In the original song, the ending has a cute bit where a child joins in to complete the rendition with laughter. I mimicked a child to include that bit. :-) Hope it doesn't sound too bad.

In a couple of days, I am leaving for India!!! I won’t be able to record songs there as my recording gear is here in Wisconsin. But, I will try and log in to Muziboo to listen to all of you :)

I was really excited when Pradip Somasundaran asked me if I would be interested in singing a song with him. He is, by far, one of best and most respected singers in the music blogging community.

Here is a beautiful song, one of the evergreen hits from the movie 'Bharatham'. I think, this song is one of Raveendran mash's toughest compositions; Pradip ettan performance in this is superlative! I am happy I got a chance to sing this with him.

We have added our own little variations/additions to the song. The swaraas sung by me in between are not there in the original song.

Almost a month ago, Sindhuja had emailed me about wanting to do this beautiful song. I was really excited about working with such a talented singer like Sindhu, so I immediately agreed. Also, the idea of making a duet out of this song got me interested.
I would like to thank Murali for his work on this. The track he created was flawless! It was his idea to have us sing the entire humming, which I think, gave it an extra effect.

I thought I should upload a song for my Anniversary. Today Raj and I are celebrating our 4th wedding Anniversary. Unfortunately, he is traveling on work and I am home alone :(

As most of you probably know, he is the one who does my entire recording and mixing.
Since he is not here, I tried my hand in mixing – which is why this is plain, simple and unplugged. So if you find any fault in volume levels or hear mouse clicks once in a while, please excuse all that. Today I have broken all the rules :P after all it is my special day!

I hope you guys enjoy this song. It’s a classic number sung by Talat Mehmood. Recently in a Malayalam movie – ‘Kayyoppu’, singer Gayathri covered this song again. She too sang the song unplugged. It’s amazing how even after so many years a song can sound so refreshing. This song goes out to Raj – my mixing ustad :)

Vishu is a Malayalam festival held in Kerala, (and adjoining areas of Tamil Nadu)India; on the first day in the Malayalam month of Medam (April-May). The festival of Vishu also marks the Malayalam New Year. The main attractions are Vishukani, Vishukaineetam, and of course the Sadya and Payasam that follow :)

This is one of my favorite songs evvver!! It's from the movie Thalavattom. Watching this movie is a bitter-sweet experience for people like me and Raj (Huge Lalettan Fans).

This is, one of Laletten's best performances, yet the ending is no so good :-(

For people who have not seen the movie, I don't want to spoil it my telling you the ending. So if you have not seen the movie, go watch it!!

But the songs compensate for everything... this is an evergreen number and it's so always refreshing to listen to it. I thank Murali Ramanathan for suggesting this song and for singing it so beautifully. Hope you all enjoy listening to it.

Here is a Tamil cover after quite some time. I would like to thank Kumaran for suggesting this song. I usually never try low range songs, but wanted to try something different. Moreover, I really like Bombay Jayashree’s voice. It took me some time to get used to the different ranges in this song.

The dogs never get out of their prisons. They are bred over and over again until they die. The only way to free them from the misery of these horrid puppymills is to eliminate the demand for puppies by refusing to buy a puppy in a pet store and boycotting those pet stores that sell puppies. When people stop buying puppies in pet stores, the puppy mills will go out of business and the misery will end. The state and federal governments do not enforce the laws to protect the dogs.

Please join this fight to free the prisoners of greed. The only person who is going to make a difference for the dogs suffering in puppy mills is you. You, the people, can free them from their puppy mill prisons.

Here is what you can do:

Let's Make Sure That Anyone Who Searches the Internet for Puppies gets this website to educate them about the commercial kennels.

To accomplish this goal we need every person - thousands and thousands of people to put the word "Puppies" on their website and link that word to http://www.prisonersofgreed.org. And do the exact same thing for the words "Dog" "Pet Store" "Petstore" and "Lancaster County" If many websites link to this one on those specific words, the search engines will send the traffic to the first page of this website and people looking to buy a puppy will learn about the risk of buying a dog in a pet store. The first thing that they will see are all the photos of kennels on the first page.

Please take this simple step to help the dogs who are suffering in the puppymills.

Finally I found this song. "Kolakuzhal" from the recent movie Nivadeyam and I couldn't think of any one else to sing it with other than our Jo. I think he has sung the song exceptionally well. In spite of incessant issues with his throat he has managed to give the song his best.

I got a chance to sing a Malayalam duet with Murali Venkatraman, who has been a music blogger for a very long time. This song is a wonderful composition of M Jayachandran and is brilliantly sung by Madhu Balakrishnan & K.S Chithra.

I am not surprised when I hear that this song is so easily liked by most people. Out of all the young singers today, Madhu Balakrishnan is one of the best, my favorite too. He is accompanied by Chithra (I don't need to say more about her). In addition to that, the song is composed by a contemporary composer who has won everyone's heart through his music and his humble personality.

My first blog

This is my first Blog post. My first "Bloggish" venture . I can proudly say that I am an official "Blogger". I was never really good with writing. But the inspiration for this blog came from music.

Music has always been a passion. I don't know what I would have done if I did not know how to hum a tune. I used to learn my favorite songs and then record them; the only listeners were my parents and anyone who visited us. My parents would never miss an opportunity to brag about their daughter's singing. :)

I then tumbled upon a music blog and realized that there are tons of amateur singers who display their talents for the whole world-wide-web to enjoy. I have to specially mention my blog friend Jo, who suggested the blog idea and helped me set this up. So thank you Jo!

Here is a song for all you music lovers, whose feedback and comments are always appreciated. One lazy Saturday afternoon, my husband and I, recorded this. Having the technical knowledge of a caveman, I knew I was not up to it. He gets complete credit for the time and effort put into this recording. After all he is the Best! ;)
